London and UK Tech Continues To Thrive

The Green Industrial Revolution, rising salaries and smart boroughs. As London remains one of the most technologically advanced cities in the world, boroughs like Camden Council are looking use data driven strategies to improve the lives of it's citizens.

Groups like the Smart London Board and the London Office of Technology and Innovation are collaborating with local councils to share data and cooperate with SMEs, developers, coders and researchers to provide new services to improve the lives of Londoners. These services and alerts can then be applied across an open platform and will, in turn, generate and develop the tech sector both nationally and internationally.

"London is a hub of tech innovation – Findings from London and Partners found that the capital’s tech firms raised a staggering £2.45 billion and accounted for almost 80 per cent of all UK venture capital tech spending back in 2017" Sean Price, EMEA Industry Solutions Director – Public Sector, Qlik told Government Technology.

The UK as a whole is advancing at a rapid speed when it comes to tech jobs and the development of the industry. Utilising shared data-driven strategies will make sure that fresh tech is implemented across the globe with tech hubs like London leading the way.

Since 2017, the government has released various funded schemes to propel London and the UK to the forefront of the global tech scene. In 2020, the Government announced it's ten point plan for a Green Industrial Revolution. But, it's not just government funded schemes that is making the industry thrive. Tech opportunities are becoming more vast and better paid as well as niche.
